» Design 3D objects, terrains, color textures, and cloudscapes for ArtMatic Voyager » Create special effects and unique transitions for video projects It can be psychedelic, surreal or serious and is used by both major Hollywood studios and enthusiastic amateurs. It is even used for the design of high-fashion textiles, CD covers, web sites and games. With even just a few keyframes, it can create complex morphing objects that would require painstaking keyframing in other apps.ĪrtMatic’s large library of components and presets make it a flexible tool equally adept at creating digital fine art, commercial graphics, studio-quality video effects and motion graphics, and much more. The ArtMatic 5/ArtMatic Voyager combination makes it possible to design complex, surprising objects virtually impossible with traditional tools. It is a serious tool that is fun to use and appreciated by professionals and amateurs alike.ĪrtMatic 5 adds a new class of components and algorithms for designing true-3D DFRM objects for ArtMatic Voyager, its 3D-rendering sibling. Its user interface is designed to engage artists in a rich exploration of possible image spaces. Rather than paint with brush strokes, artists create images and animation by linking together any of the more than 680 available graphics modules. It is the graphics equivalent of an audio synthesizer. Now, it can design abstract and surreal fully-3D objects for ArtMatic Voyager.

This new version provides accelerated multi-core rendering, more than 30 new components, nearly one hundred new algorithms, and DFRM 3D technology.Ĭreated by Eric Wenger (creator of Bryce3D), ArtMatic is a modular graphics and animation synthesizer that can create still images, motion graphics, video effects and sound.

It use to be that that is how they started out doing it in their early years, which now they seem to be asking for upgrade fee from 4.1 to 4.6 with no other versions in between.U & I Software Updates ArtMatic To Version 5 Rather than coming out with an upgrade every year and a half and charging an upgrade fee for it.

I also wish they would make upgrades to their application a bit more often to fix issues that arise or just to make minor improvements. I myself would feel it would be a big improvement if they went to the web based forum instead. The only problem there is that it is based on getting a bunch of emails that for the majority aren't that interesting and also the discussions cover the companies other applications as well so you do get inundated with emails. In the past years there has been established a users group that has a very creative people in it, and sometimes you get access to some tutorials from there. It has a very steep learning curve though and in the past the documentation it has had, has been quite limiting, making it very challenging. The other thing is thats expensive and after all it is only a fractal application, a very good one though but still a fractal application. Let me start of by saying that ArtMatic is really great little application, it's creative, fun, artistic and it can even give to the nerdiness in all of us. Clearly the ear is much less tolerant that the eye. The techno sounds AM generates are just more or less absurd noises (as well illustrated with the examples in AM's site). Unfortunately, their number is quite limited and their chronologic order cannot be changed.Īcross 10 years using AM, I could never approach anything melodious or even harmonious. When exploring, AM allows memorizing some positions for later exploration or for including them as key frames of a movie. Perhaps, an additional paint-tool could be associated to AM to overcome this limitation without interrupting the exploration. although there are many ways to change the colors and edit large ranges of tones, hues and values, there are still mathematical constraints that won't let you do exactly what you would with a graphic software (eg have different colours for different zones that correspond to the same mathematical definition).

The support is incredibly quick and efficient (including during the week-ends) It is constantly improved, with new features added.Īt first, the results may be disappointing but, sooner or later depending on luck, one finds places where to settle down and start exploring from.īeautiful films can also be created very easily. It enables endless voyages through never explored regions of an endless universe of visual creation.
