With a unique blend of clean guitars and acoustics, slammed with furious metal riffs and brutal vocals, this release gave me something different from the genre and that is why I was able to write this review. The Long Road Home from Iapetus was a journey into musical composition more than it was having my eardrums pounded for an hour, which most of the time is the outcome when I listen to such music. I have always found it hard to keep my attention when I can’t even understand the lyrics to the songs and if you have read any of my reviews in the past you know that lyrical content is important to me when it comes to writing these reviews, but what if there was a band that changed my views on death metal and melodeath metal? The group is made up of 5 musicians who have a passion for music, and the chemistry within the band can be easily heard throughout their music. Call It Home boast a classic pairing of clean and harsh vocals. The once local band is now becoming more known around the county. The band are hard workers and have quickly built a huge following thanks to their energetic stage presence and unique sound. The band has been playing iconic venues around the area like Revolution Bar, Webster Hall and even Andrew WK’s co-owned venue Santos Party House. Soon, two members from each band decided it was time for something new and Car Bomb was formed as a side project in 2002. The forming of the band started as early as 2000 when two New York bands Neck and Spooge shared a studio together. The band has a very raw, but technologically advanced sound that very few bands have perfected. The experimental mathcore band from Long Island released what was widely considered one of the best released of 2016 in metal with ‘Meta’. If you’ve been keeping up with the heavy music scene, you’d know that Car Bomb is about to take it by storm. *This is part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured State*
